The problem

Soundtrap's product offering has expanded throughout the years and our initial approach to navigation did not hold up. We were adding new features on top of features, tabs within tabs, our onboarding rates were down and users had a difficult time finding the content they were looking for.

Rethinking the information architecture

We started by mapping out the information architecture of our product and found that we were jamming a lot of content into one primary page. What we did next was to look into the possibility of rearranging the content into multiple categories that would sit on the top level navigation to make it easier and more straight forward for users to find what they need.
